posted February 8, 2001 11:32 AM Yesterday I posted a message about a problem I experienced with WebServer Tool unable to load valid certificates and therefore to start SSL on Windows 2000/Italian platform. Further investigations revealed that the problen exists for certificates with keys longer than 512 bits. The platform fully supports the Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider and High Encryption. We have not yet tried the equivalent US platform, but anyway Windows 2000/Italian platform is strategic for us. Does the Web Server tool need particular support files to work with higher encyption? Thank you very much in advance for any reply and my compliments for your very good product. Piero Draghi Genova, ITALY |

posted February 8, 2001 11:44 AM In order to support 1024 bit certs you need to either install the Microsoft High Encryption pack or IE 5.5. It works for me on a US machine OK. Tony |

posted February 8, 2001 12:18 PM The High Encryption pack is installed: I will try to install IE5.5 and all the security patches from Microsoft. In addition I'll try to configure a machine with a fresh Win2000 installation in order to compare the two configurations. Thank you again for you help. Piero Draghi Genova, ITALY |
