We have several customers who also try to run applications from other vendors that also use Dart, specifically the Power TCP ActiveX FTP control. When our app registers the dll, we work fine. Then the other app registers its version and ours fails. I don't know if the other app works when we work. But we certainly don't work when the other application has overwritten our Dart dlls with theirs.

Suggestions?

Hello,

This is one of the limitations of the ActiveX framework; you cannot use two versions of the same dll on the same system. Depending on the versions that each application uses, they may be incompatible.

What are the two versions used here?

I would recommend trying to install your application on top of the other, and see if both applications continue to work.

This issue has reared its ugly head again. The 'other company' is using Dartsock 2.8.3.10 we are using 2.9.0.0.

Would there be a way to modify the DLL so that it registers under a slightly different name, such as "dart_abcco.ftp.1" ?

The effect of this problem is that one of your customers will lose a customer!
