posted January 13, 2011 1:11 PM I am in the process of moving from one development machine to another. The new one is Windows 7 Enterprise with Visual Studio 2010 and .net Framework 4.0 My old machine (which has Dart PowerWeb TextBox for ASP.Net) on it was running XP Professional / VS 2005 and .net Framework 2.0. 1) How can I transfer my copy of Dart PowerWeb TextBox for ASP.Net to my new machine ... so I can register the license? 2) What changes will I need to make to get it running. For now I have referenced the dll on the old machine ... when I publish a site to a Windows 2008 Server running IIS 7.0 - it tells me the web config cannot reference LiveControls. I don't understand why it is trying to reference 'LiveControls' - as far as I can see I haven't referenced anything other than the PowerWeb TextBox dll. Thanks for any help. |

posted January 13, 2011 5:23 PM To transfer your copy, uninstall from old machine, and install and license the new machine. PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET does not currently support VS2010, .NET Framework 4.0 or IIS7. If you would like to use this product in .NET 4.0, you will likely have to specify the full .NET Framework 4.0 (rather than the Client Profile) and to resolve issues with IIS7. However, PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET is no longer supported and therefore has not been tested extensively in VS 2010, Framework 4.0, or the latest browser versions. Please review #6 here: http://support.dart.com/postings?topicid=7685 for additional information about IIS7 issues. You may also want to consider upgrading your version of PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET to version 3.2. This version is the most recent and includes product source code which can be modified (within the terms of the license agreement) to resolve compatibility issues. We also offer custom support services for PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET. If you are interested in these services please email sales@dart.com for details. We are currently reviewing the LiveControls reference. As soon as I receive a response from the technical team I will post. Thank you. |

posted January 14, 2011 4:36 PM A simple test was run with version 3.2 and it seemed to work okay. The scripts not found error that you are experiencing occurs when migrating from IIS6 to IIS7, without migrating the web.config. There is a utility for doing this. Please take a look at item #6 in this forum post: http://support.dart.com/postings?topicid=7685 The post is for File Upload, but it applies to all PowerWEB controls. |

posted January 15, 2011 6:51 AM When you say "PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET is no longer supported" - does this mean there will not be an upgrade which will support VS2010, .net Framework 4.0 and deployment on servers running IIS 7.0 or higher? If so, I'll give up and look for another product. |

posted January 17, 2011 9:41 AM Customer interest in PowerWEB TextBox for ASP.NET has declined over the past few years making it difficult to continue to maintain. At this time we have no plans to upgrade this product, however, I will be happy to notify you if that changes. Thank you. |

posted January 17, 2011 10:00 AM Hi, I would like to add that although the product is not officially supported in VS 2010, Framework 4.0 or IIS7 because it has not been extensively tested in these environments, the product has been used in these environments and, as far as I am aware, there are no issues with doing so. Just to reiterate what has been said before, in order to use this product in IIS7, you must use the IIS7 web config migrate utility. If you do not, you will see a scripts not found error. Example use: %systemroot%\system32\inetsrv\APPCMD.EXE migrate config "Default Web Site/MyWebApp" -ken |
