We have the Dart Enterprise Ping Control V1.0.0.0. I have converted and compiled the sample Ping Enterprise Client app under VS2008, .Net 3.5 and it runs fine on Windows XP. I created a installer app and installed the app onto a Windows 7 machine. The app installs fine but as soon as I launch the sample app on Windows 7, I get the message PingEnterpriseClient.exe has stopped working. THis occurs before the app window is even displayed.

Any ideas?

I think you should try running it "as Administrator" just to narrow down the issue.

I tried running it "as administrator" and received the same error message.

Thanks for checking. Let me preface my comments by stating we don't support the ActiveX products in the .NET environment (but as you've seen, they often work there without any problem).

I'll go out on a limb here and guess that a combination of the .NET environment and the newer OS is raising some kind of compatibility issue for the Ping Enterprise control. It might be resolved by using VB6 instead of .NET, but I'm not sure you really want to go back to that...

If you want to move into Dart's supported environments, we have an Alpha version of our PowerTCP Sockets for .NET v 4.0 under development that has a Ping Component that does not have to run "as Administrator" to work.

I think our sales department will be in touch to see how we might be able to help you.

Kind regards, mike
