Hi Guys,

Just a quick question. How do I get PowerWeb Textbox control to show up in VS.2008?

Thanks

Hi David,
Do you mean in the Toolbox?
You would right-click on the Toolbox, select "Choose Items..." and select it from the list.

Then, just drag and drop it from the Toolbox onto the webform.

Hi Ken,
thank you for your very quick answer however thats what I have tried but its not listed in the .NET Framework Components.
When I installed it with VS 2005 and i right-clicked went to chose items and scolled down i was able to click the checkbox for HTMLTextbox. It jsut isn't there in VS 2008.
Am I missing something?

Hi David,
Are you sure the tab is on .NET Framework Components?

Sort by Namespace and look under Dart.PowerWEB.TextBox and you should see the HtmlBox control.
I haven't heard of it not appearing.

I suppose you could Browse for it, but I think you would have to first move it from the
Users...AppData\Roaming
folder to an accessible location to VS.NET.

Hi Ken,

did a sort by namespace but still no dart component lsited.

Moved the dll from Users...AppData\Roaming to ... Visual Studio 9.0/Common7/IDE.

Removed and added the reference to the dll in the new location. I went back to chose items still nothing. Used browse to the above location tried to add the dll and got the following error.

There was a error loading types from assebmly 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visaul Studio 9.0\Common7|IDE\Dart.PwerWeb.TextBox.dll'
'Method not found: 'Void.System.IO.MemoryStream.Close()'

Seems to be getting worse by the minute. This all work fine using the trial show whats different?

Hi David,
The only difference would be the licensing code executed.

Unfortunately, this error has now appeared a handful of times, but we are still unaware of its cause, or how to address it.
We currently have someone looking into the problem, but it is proving difficult to tackle.
We are unable to reproduce the problem ourselves.

Can you please tell me everything you can about this system?

Any and all Frameworks installed.

Operating System.

Does the Product appear in the licensed tools list when the Registration program is run?

If you examine the registry (for example, with regedit), do you see the license here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Dart/PowerTCP/License

Is there anything you might consider "unusual" about this system?

Our hope is to setup a system with the same specs that would allow us to see the problem first-hand.

Thanks,

Hi Ken,

System Details:

Dell Vostro_200

Core 2 Duo E4400 2.00 Ghz
2GB RAM
Vista 32bit with SP 1
256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO

Mainly used as a development machine. Software installed includes:

SQL Server 2008
Visual Studio 2008
Officer 2003
VMWare Workstation
Sybase SQL Anywhere 9
Sybase SQL Anywhere 10
Wise Installation Studio 7

Ok had a look for the registry entry you posted and no it’s not present. Looks like the installer failed to insert this registry entry.

Can you please tell me what details are meant to be in this registry key and I shall manually insert it myself and retest and get back to you let you know the results.

If your needing any more info just let me know.

Thanks

Hi David,
Unfortuantely, I cannot tell you what the value should be, as it will be a number unique to your machine.
I see in your account three entries, so the registration should have worked.
Is it accurate to say that TextBox does not appear in the Registration program's list of licensed tools?
Please try installing again, but make sure you run the app as an Administrator.
With Vista, writing to the registry can be a problem if the user is not an Administrator
(It creates a temporary hive, making you believe that it has been modified, but it's an illusion).

More info on Vista compatibility:
http://www.dart.com/vista.aspx

Let me know if that helps,

Hi Ken,

I went into license registration and PowerWeb Textbox was present so i clicked Remove this license.

I then uninstalled PowerWeb from my machine.

I reinstalled making sure I ran the program as administrator.

I navigated to the reg program righht clicked and ran as administrator and reregestered the product. Again PowerWeb Textbox appears as a registered product.

I went into regedit, navigated to the reg key and it now appears in the registry.

I started up VS.2008, opened my project. Removed and added my reference to the dll again.

Went back to my toolbox, no sign of HTMLTextbox. Sorted by namespace, still no sign. Went to browse for component. Selected the pwerweb dll and I get the same void error as before.

If you would like screen shots or any more information just let me know.

Thanks

David

Hi David,
Yes, please send screenshots to support@dart.com.

We are going to setup a new Vista 32 bit SP1 machine today with VS.NET 2008 and see if we can reproduce the problem.
Which version of Vista are you running?
Please let me know ASAP.

Which Frameworks were installed on the machine?
We are assuming just 3/3.5 because we have Vista machines here with all Frameworks installed.
None of them show this problem.

The test will consist of us installing the TextBox trial, then the licensed version.

Is there anything else that you feel we should do on this machine before installing the TextBox?

One more thing...the control would not appear in the list of .NET components if the registry entry signalling its location was not added.
Do you see anything here?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/.NETFramework/AssemblyFolders/Dart.PowerWEB.TextBox

Thanks,

David Bell

Hi Guys,

This problem seems to be also occuring with Visual Studio 2008 SP1 with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

Any ideas if this has been fixed and how to fix it?

thanks

Hi David,
Version 3.1.4.0 takes care of the following issue:

MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void System.IO.MemoryStream.Close()'

If you do not receive a link from us shortly, please contact support@dart.com.
