Is there a problem with using 1.1 version of Mail and FTP with 2.0, 3.5 .Net projects. Since 2.0 ASP.Net project do not compile into a dll like 1.1 projects, what is the method for insuring one has valid licens.licx entries and it is built into the project?

The correct method is to drag and drop the component to the web form. This will create a licenses.licx file for you automatically.
However, if you are using the component as a reference, then you need to create this file manually. Please remember to set the “Build Action” property of licenses.licx file to embedded resource.

It seems to me that you are using version 2.1.1.0 of Mail for .NET. Please remember that this version was released in year 2003 so it could be possibility that this version might not be 100% compatible with .NET 2.0. If you are looking for better compatibility with .NET 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5 then I would suggest you to please install a trial of the latest version from following location:

Have a nice day.

Amit,

Thanks for the response but you missed my point. If one is developing a website in VS 2008 there is no project dll to build the license into. I am using XCopy to deploy the application.

Therefore the ASP.Net 3.5 Framework builds the dll on the first access of the web site. So how does the license.licx work in that case?

Do you have actual experience and documented steps in this type of deployment?

Hi Bill,

In asp.net applications or websites, licenses are being compiled into App_Licenes.dll. You may create this DLL by right clicking licenses.licx file and then clicking build runtime licenses.

I hope this is of help.

Amit
