posted January 25, 2001 1:12 PM When my application is installed on a customer's computer and the feature that utilizes the Web Tool is used for the first time, the 30-day trial dialog pops up. What gives? My Web Tool is licensed. Is this a benign problem or will this feature stop working in 30 days? I have been distributing my Access 2000- based application for over a year now with the Web Tool and have had no problems. The Web Tool has been used on one form and called in VBA code as a control. Recently, I created a Class module that uses the Web Tool as an ActiveX component and call it in code. It is declared in the top of the class: Private WithEvents Http1 As Http Thanks for your help. |

posted January 25, 2001 2:15 PM Sounds like the control was inserted while you were on trial. If that's the case, I think you have to recreate your database after the license is installed on the machine where you are developing. Also, the database may be opening in design mode, which can't be done if you want to distribute. Tony Priest Dart Tech Support |

posted February 2, 2001 12:44 PM I'm still a little confused by your last reply. I'm not referencing a control in this new code that seems to be triggering the dialog box popping up. Plus, the Http control that is inserted in the application that is used for other features may have been inserted initially while I was under trial, but that was about a year ago. I have distributed the application to many users with no problems. The database is not being opened in design mode either. What else could be causing this? |

posted February 2, 2001 1:24 PM If the dialog box pops up, it's not finding the license number. Why it's not finding the number, i can't say, since I do not have access to your app. What's changed in the last year? |
| N/A | posted February 6, 2001 4:50 PM The only thing that has changed is how I am referencing the Http tool - I am now calling (with events) it in one of my class objects without inserting the control on a form. The features that reference an inserted Http (on a form) control are working fine even when I push my test computer system date beyond the so-called 30-day trial. The features that reference the Http tool without an inserted control, fail and the dialog box pops up that says the trial has expired. All features work properly on my development computer. The 30 day trial box does not pop up. Have you successfully tested how it works when referenced in an Access 2000 Class Module without being inserted on a form? Could it be that since Access class modules are not truly compiled that the license information is not remembered by the Access application? I am saving the application to an MDE file, which is not a true compilation, I don't think. Thanks for your help - one of my customers, that I distributed this app to is about to encounter the expired trial error in the next day or so. I'm pretty concerned. |

posted February 6, 2001 5:10 PM No, I have never used an Access 2000 class module. Does he still get the error if you insert it on a form? If so, then you are correct that Access is not providing a runtime license. Thanks, Tony |
