Greetings all,

I've run into a problem on one of my users PCs when initializing the DartWeb control. We use it as part of our software update process and on one PC every time the program runs we get a "QMInstaller has encountered an error and will be shut down" message.

I had them forward me the log file that the MS error reporting system wants to send, but I have to admit that it means very little to me. I'll paste it in below in hopes that something will leap out to people with more experience.

We're coming up on a major rollout of the program and my concern is that this may not just be an issue with the one PC (so far we're running just fine on 100 or so).

The PC with the error is running XP SP2, with IE6. I'm trying to get a list of security and other applications which are running on it to see if perhaps a firewall is causing a problem. The user does have Admin rights to the computer.

I'll post the MS error log in subsequent posts (it's too long for this one.

Thanks for any assistance...

Sorry, but I have no idea what all these log files mean as I don't know what "QMInstaller" is. Have you checked with whoever makes "QMInstaller" to see what the error message means?

I am deleting all the logs you posted for now so that this topic is less cluttered.

As far as our controls go, try manually registering the DLL(s) on the machine and see if you get error message.

Hi Tony,

QMInstaller is my app. THe MS error popup references the DartWeb control, so my thought was that it was raising an error state on the application that tried to initialize it.

I'll try having them manually register the control and let you know what happens.

Sorry for the very very long delay, we thought that the problem had vanished but it turned out that the person who was having it just got distracted. Now not only is he back, but it's occuring in two other locations.

I did have them all try manually registering the DartWeb control to no avail.

Has anyone else encountered this, and hopefully know of a fix?

Thanks...

Hi,
Please run the Dartnostics utility on the problem machine and use it to create a report.
(You can just copy Dartnostics.exe onto the machine).

Please send in the report to support@dart.com and reference this thread.
Perhaps something in the report will shed some light.

Thanks,
-ken
