posted March 15, 2006 6:51 PM I have created a test application that consists of a small UI and a 'testdll' I created with a fully licensed product 'PowerTCP Emulation for .Net'. The application runs fine. I have now given my 'testdll' to another developer to reference in his application. It breaks when he compiles with the following error. C:\Temp\WindowsApplication1\licenses.licx Could not transform licenses file 'licenses.licx' into a binary resource. (1) : error LC0004 : Exception occured creating type 'System.ComponentModel.LicenseException' The files I gave the other developer were 'testDll' and the Emulation.vt dll to handle the references. I had him create the licenses.licx file per the instructions and he still gets the error. Can he not make calls to the 'testDll' that I created ? It appears that the licenses file is only compiled in with the exe and not the Dll I created. What am I missing? I hope you can shed some light on this matter. Thanks |

posted March 15, 2006 7:02 PM Since the other developer is using your DLL in compile time, he is therefore using our DLL in compile time and will in turn need to purchase a license. When VB compiles the second app, it knows that it has a reference to a licensed control and calls the function that checks the license. |
