posted January 18, 2006 6:00 AM Dear Sir, I m using your tool "PowerTCP FTP for .NET" for connecting FTP Server. I have licence copy of "PowerTCP FTP for .NET". Now, as i am developing application, I have one query related to date time format..: I want TimeStamp of file of FTP Server that means i want to get the exact format of date time that the ftp server uses. Please tell me, "PowerTCP FTP" gives me FTP Server's DateTime Format according the server's settings or any fixed Format ? During testing my application in my local company's network enviornment, I am able find out that, "PowerTCP FTP" gives fixed DateTime Format "MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss tt" though my ftp server's date time format does vary. i checked on two three servers i.e on my local networks's ftp servers, each having different datetime format, but Power tcp's timestamp method gives me same format i.e "MM-dd-yyyy hh:mm:ss tt" only.. So assumed that Power TCP will give the same date time format for any server, so i programmed accordingly. But when i actually deployed the application to my client pc, and when the user tries to get connected to his Ftp server, and when the program tried to get the date time and related to function it fetches the date time in different format then i have assumed. So it throughs exception related to date time format. So as i mentioned before i want exact format that the server actually has.So can you advice me on this, that if power tcp has any method, through which i can get the exact date time format that the server actually has. Please Tell me Solution of this problem As i have been searching for solutions since long hours. I would like to thanks you for your help in advance. Thanks Dasharath.. |

posted January 18, 2006 8:46 AM There is no simple solution. Servers return different strings. Some servers don't put a year in if the file was written in the last string. The bottom line is, we give you the exact string that the server reports. Note that this question is covered in several threads on the forum. Here is a link I found by searching for 'date and year and ftp': http://www.dart.com/search/searchresults.asp?expand=Forum&term=date+and+year+and+ftp&page=1 |
