I am having problems with the license for PowerTCP ZIP for .Net.

1) I have succesfully registered the license using the license manager
2) I have added a license.licx file to the rootof the website and added the Dart.PowerTCP.Zip.Archive, Dart.PowerTCP.Zip line.
3) I removed all Dart.PowerTCP.Zip.dll entries from my temporary .Net cache
4) I rebooted my machine
5) I checked file security on the license.licx file (ASP.NET/IUSR_ and IWAM have modify rights)
6) I rebuild my project (NOT THE SOLUTION ;-))

I still get the license error:

This PowerTCP product has not been added to the Project's licenses.licx file. If your Project does not have a licenses.licx file already, you must create a text file named "licenses.licx" and add it to your PROJECT (not the Solution). <continued...> You must then add the following line to the file: 'Dart.PowerTCP.Zip.Archive, Dart.PowerTCP.Zip' If the project already contains a licenses.licx, simply append this line to the file. For more information, please see the "Creating the Licenses.licx File" page in the Online Help. ***IMPORTANT*** Any time you make changes to the licenses in your project, you MUST REBUILD (not Build or Start!) the PROJECT (not the Solution!) that contains the reference to the licensed DLL, or the changes will not be built into the application. Also, please be aware that any Project that ultimately references a Dart DLL must also include a licenses.licx file, and be compiled on a licensed machine. This includes, for example, an executable that references a class library, that in turn references a Dart DLL.

((I have been reading about a so called 'lic' file that should reside in the PowerTCP directory. My computer however does not have a lic file. Maybe the lic file is not required for PowerTCP Zip for .Net.))

I'd appreciate any good hints

BTW

I'm running ASP.NET, VS 2003 with VB. The dart entry is the only entry in the file.

Guess I found the problem (and the solution)

As it turned out, my solution had a secondary project that also had a reference to the Dart component. During a rebuild of the main project no errors were reported. However when I tried rebuilt the secondary project, errors against the Dart component were reported.

So I removed the secondary project from the solution, rebuilt the main project and voila, the problem was solved. (at leat on the development server. I'll now check the production server)

If your development box is licensed, (i.e. registration application says that your tool is licensed) You need to make sure your project has a valid licenses.licx file. And Re-Compile the project, before deploying.

Please refer the help file and search for licenses.licx for articles on creating valid licx file.

Let me know if this needs further assistance.
