Hello,

I use a trial version 1.1.2.

I have the following scenario:
- Page contains LiveTimer with interval of 10000 msec
- Page also contains normal .NET button
- When the application is started, the LiveTimer correctly does a callback each 10 seconds.
- When I click the button at time X, this causes a PostBack (of course), but also causes that at time X + 10 seconds the LiveTimer does a callback, while the old interval is also still causing the callback. So now two times per 10 seconds a callback is performed.

I noticed that this only occurs when the page property SmartNavigation is set to true.

This seems to me like a bug, because I should be able to set SmartNavigation to true.

Do you have any idea?

Hello,

Can anyone of the DART Support Forum Admin's answer my question? It's too silent in this thread ;) And still a serious problem.

Hi,

LiveControls and SmartNavigation perform similar tasks (although LiveControls does it in a much more efficient manner). So, LiveControls should be viewed as a replacement for SmartNavigation, not to be used with SmartNavigation.

Jeff,

What about times when one is using a mix of Live controls and base class controls and the scenario where smartnavigation is on for holding the scroll position for postbacks for whatever reason?

Are you saying that if one uses a LiveControl, we should always switch off smartnavigation?

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Compatibility with SmartNavigation was not one of our original design goals, as we have always considered LiveControls to be an improvement over SmartNavigation (because of better browser interop, more efficient use of bandwidth, faster rendering times, etc).

We will start testing interop issues with SmartNavigation, and will report back when we have substantive results.

Thank you for using LiveControls.

Thank you for starting investigation interop with SmartNavigation.

This is an important issue for existing ASP.NET pages, to be able to use the LiveTimer for checking often for updates, and still using normal ASP.NET controls.

I am looking forward to your results and SmartNavigation support. That support would be a reason for us to buy the LiveControls.

RAK
