VB6
In my store event, if I change the response.statustext when the request is completed, the client machines lock. They don't show the status either.

my code snippet from the store event:
If Request.Completed Then
  Response.Status = 226
  Response.StatusText = "JOB = 1234 - Transfer complete."
End If

The client ftp receives a screen like this:
ftp> put subnet.txt
200 PORT command successful.
150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file subnet.txt
JOB = 1234 - Transfer complete.

(notice no 226 reported) and the client has to ctrl-c to get out (or wait for a timeout).

Am I missing something?

Take a look at the the Status and Text before you change them and you will see that they are 150 and "Opening data connection" which means they are pertaining to the opening of the data connection.

As it stands, you won't be able to change the Status and StatusText for a Store operation.

I'm writing this up as issue #3036 for future investigation. Please contact David Harry (sales@dart.com) if you have questions regarding the resolution.

So I guess my question is this. If the means exist to have the store event fire twice, once at the beginning and once at completion, what good does it do me if I cannot intercept the status??

It tells you the transfer is complete. We had tons of requests from people who wanted to have that information.

So the information you gave in
http://support.dart.com/postings?topicid=3256 was incorrect?

It should work. Which is why I said:
