posted February 14, 2005 7:09 PM I have a program which uses dart server tool. I have a class which is very much the same as CSMTPServer.cls of SMPT server exmaple given by Dart. Class's initialize code is here. Set m_oServer = New Server Set m_oService = New Service m_bRunningAsService = False m_bStartingAsService = False GetRegSettings IN my program error occurs at the first line. However no error message. It occurs only in exe. IN Visual studio, it runs well. If I put msgbox just above the first line, msgbox appears, after that it says active X can not create object. Again this occurs only in exe. In VStudio it runs well. Can any one tell me wht's wrong here. To test it further, I compiled SMTP server example and ran the exe. Error does not occur, however no screen comes up. WHile in Visul studio screen (frmMAin) comes up. Any help would be highly appreciated |

posted February 14, 2005 10:37 PM Are you starting the exe by clicking it? If so then that is the problem. The sample is designed to run as a service if it is called without a command line. When you start it iun VB, it runs with the /a parameter that tells it to start as an application. |

posted February 14, 2005 10:57 PM Thanks for the info. My program fails to create server object. If catch the error and dispaly it in msgbox it says ActiveX can not create object. I have made sure server dartserver.dll is selected in project references. Why this happens only in exe and not in visual studio?. Exe runs in same devlopment machine. Set m_oServer = New Server. |
