how do I zip a file which contains a comma in the name (ex: reddy, kris.doc). Comma is a valid character for the filenames in windows.

Please try typing "comma and zip" in the search box above and you should find several threads where this question has been asked and answered.

what if, if the folder contains two files
1) reddy kris.doc
2) reddy,kris.doc

if I pass "reddy*kris.doc", will it zip one file or two files. I want to zip only one file "reddy, kris.doc"

That's true, but unfortunately I do not have a solution for you. Is that really something you expect to happen a lot?
