posted January 12, 2005 12:30 AM I am writing an application that will run on a PocketPC/CE device and wil need to communicate with a server, preferably using SSL. I have looked at the Sockets control, but it seems that thecompact framework is not supported. I haven't been able to find out a definite yes or no that isn't an old message. So, are these controls supported in the compact framework environment? If not, any plans on implementing this? |

posted January 12, 2005 7:54 AM Sorry, but no they are not. Currently we have no plans to add support for it either. |

posted January 12, 2005 9:34 AM Ok, thanks for the response. I hope to write a non CF app that uses your controls in the future, either our web survey app or something new. Thanks. |

posted January 12, 2005 10:31 AM Actually, I got ahead of myself. I could still use the Sockets control for the server piece, to handle the clients logging in, etc. I would just need to use something different on the device within the compact framework, for the client-side of communications. We have a similar CF client app that uses the basic .Net System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient to connect, I could just use that on this client and your control to handle the server duties. Am I correct in thinking along these lines? |
