I have an application that uses the PowerTCP Web Tool (version 1.8.0.4 of the dartweb.dll) in a VB6 dll. The application posts and retrieves from a web site. It was developed on a Windows 2000 machine.
This has been running for quite some time without problems in a VB6 windows EXE application on Windows 2000 machines. I also built a second application in ASP.NET that calls this VB6 dll and it has also been running for some time.

I recently replaced the development environment with a Windows XP machine. This can still build the VB6 projects and I can deploy them successfully. However, the ASP.NET application that was working, as well as a new one I am working on, I cannot get to work, both in the development environment and on other Windows 2000 and 2003 machines running the version of the DLL built on the XP development machine. I get Query Interface errors on the runtime machines, and either a Security Exception or a hang on the development machine.

From looking at the other forum posts, it looks like there may be some issues with the licenses and/or the interop generated by Visual Studio.

What do you suggest to pinpoint what is causing this?

Also, after moving my license registration to another machine to diagnose these problems, when I try to reregister it back on the original machine I now receive the message I can't register it anymore. Is that an easy to fix with a call to sales?

Thanks for your help!

Mike

If you installed the latest updates from Microsoft, you probably applied SP1 for FW1.1 or SP3 for FW1.0

If so, then it is a known issue with the typelib generation and can only be corrected by removing the service pack or waiting for the official release of the hotfix from Microsoft. It shouldn't be more than a few weeks before it's released. I will follow up on this thread when it is.

Please call in about the transfer situation.
