posted April 22, 2002 1:52 PM I just updated mailtool with the latest update.exe and can no longer pull up help for dartmail objects via F1. I thought perhaps that a reboot (which wasn't asked for) may be the problem, but no such luck. Anyone have any ideas? OS: Windows 2000 Pro Tool: Dart Mail IDE: VB6 SP5 |

posted April 22, 2002 2:55 PM Hi, I am using DartMail 2.2.0.4 and I can access it from VB. Is the PowerTcp.chm file located in the same directory as the dll? Thanks, -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |

posted April 22, 2002 3:31 PM Here's a good one. A few months ago I crashed my Win98SE and decided to "fresh" install Win2kPRO. I renamed my old Windows dir to "windows_old" only to keep a tally of any active ini files, application settings, etc. After running with Win2K for several weeks I moved "c:\windows_old" to "d:\windows 98". Guess where powertcp.chm ended up? ... yup, in "d:\windows 98\system". Looks like update.exe needs a modified file location algorithm <g>. Perhaps there are other files that have also "landed" in the wrong spot? Phil |

posted April 22, 2002 4:00 PM The update installs and registers ALL the DLL's in %SYS32%. Then it puts then Help files in there as well. When you ran the update, your %SYS32% system variable probably evaluated to "d:\windows 98\system" To be honest, I'm surprised that's the only problem you had with a scenario like you just described. Hope this helps! Tony Priest Dart Tech Support |

posted April 22, 2002 8:40 PM Close but no cigar. Not surprisingly a regedit search turned up 0 (zero) references to the string "windows 98" in keys, values or data (with "match whole value" NOT checked). In the meantime in my c:\winnt\system32 directory my dartmail.dll has version 2.2.0.4, which I already knew because my previous version did not include the Verify method. So update.exe DEFINATELY handles (compiled HTML) .CHM files differently than %SYS32%. Is that the only CHM or are there others I need to fish around for? Phil |

posted April 22, 2002 9:15 PM All I know is that I make the installs and I wrote the script for the update and the script says %SYS32% is where the CHM goes. For whatever reason your system is different. When you rename system directories, strange things happen If you have installed any of the Zip tools you should also look for ZipLiteTool.chm and ZipTool.chm. Tony |
