I'm using webtool in our VB app using a GET to retrieve files off our server. We were previously using the ftp tool, but had to much trouble with firewalls. so we are switching over to the webtool. when i use it to get a "normal" content files (e.g. *.swf, *.txt) it works fine. However, when i try to get a .dat file it returns error 404 - file not found. if i rename the file to a .txt, it gets it.

Is this a limitation of the webtool or is there something i can do to download misc. file types?

No, there is no limitation. The error you are getting is coming from the server. For some reason the server will not allow you to get files of that type.

Try it with IE and see what happens.

It gave the same error from IE.

What i've found is that i needed to set up an extra MIME extention for the site. When i did that it worked with no problem.

Thanks for your help
