If the webserver accepts a connection on port 80, but then hands off the connection to a daemon on port <>80, how does that traverse company firewalls that only allow outgoing HTTP on port 80?

Because to the client, the outgoing port is still port 80 as far as the TCP-IP stack is concerned.

So the connection is accepted on posrt 80, but is administered on port !80?

I am assuming the connection stays open longer than just to send an answer to the client - so the client can send more data. Is that correct?

If so, and the client thinks it connected to port 80, how can it send to port !80?

Tony - I have a question I cannot post due to the sensitivity of my company's project.

Can you email me at jim__hubbard@hotmail.com or jim.hubbard@hubbardsoftware.net or call me at 404-538-5409?

Thanks!
