I'm connecting to a remote server via two connections using a Windows Service written in VB.NET.

First, I connect with a test certificate against a particular port, which works just fine. Then, I switch to the production site/port, using the production certificate, and I get this error:

System.InvalidOperationException: The provided certificate is not able to provide credentials

when I make the connection request.

When I connect using Internet Explorer, the connection is made without difficulty to both the test and production sites.

The company that manages the site is telling me that 1. They don't support .NET. 2. This is not a problem with their certificate, it must be with my code.

Has anyone seen this error before, and can you tell me what the ultimate cause is? I have had difficulty in the past with this vendor's test cert, so I'd not be suprised that the cert actually is the issue.

Thanks!

It sounds like it found the certificate or else you would have gotten a permission error. My only conclusion is that there is something wrong with the Certificate.
