posted October 29, 2003 8:21 AM When trying to uninstall the eval of the SSL Sockets for .NET I get the following error dialog: "Error reading from file: C:\Work\ECSG2\DotNet Projects\PowerTCP\SSL Sockets for .NET\Bin\HelpLaunch.exe. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it." The file does exist, I can access it just fine, and it's not read only. What now??? Mike Baker |

posted October 29, 2003 8:57 AM Did you change the file in some way? Make it read only or change the permissions of it? Is it in use? Have you tried rebooting? You could also try to rerun the setup, choosing to repair the installation, then run the uninstall again. |

Don't hold back.. I don't mind playing around in RegEdit... Mike Baker |

posted October 29, 2003 10:29 AM I don't know what the exact steps are. Since it is a msi there are hooks everywhere in the registry. If re-running the setup didn't give you an error then there is no problem with HelpLaunch since it runs on install as well. Is there a virus checker on your system? If so, turn it off. What may be happening is that HelpLaunch runs, the virus checker checks it, then the msi tries to delete it while the checker still has a hold on it. If that's not it, then the key to solving this is to determine what is going on at your end that has never happened to anyone else in the year or so that SSL sockets has been out. Can yoy think of something that is "different" no-standard about your system? |
