posted October 3, 2003 8:54 AM Hello, we are using PowerTCPs sFTP server ActiveX control. It works well for most customers to connect to our ftp-server, but some customers cannot. Our ftp-server reports "The virtual circuit was reset...". One of our customers having the problem also has tried to connect to the sample ftp server provided by you. the result is the same. We have done these tests with our customer on several servers with different configurations/internet accesses(firewalls/no firewalls/routers etc). During the tests we always have used the authentication method "None" to exclude problems with the Secure Firewall Ready settings. The customer does not have any problems connecting to other public ftp servers. They are using the Fuego firewall. We are using the "latest" SSL updates (Version 2.0.2 - 11/27/2002). What might be wrong? Thankful for any help or pointers. best regards, Anders Höglund Qstream AB. |

posted October 3, 2003 9:04 AM What type of server is it? Implicit, Explicit or non-secure? If Implicit, are you sure there firewall allows it and that there FTP client supports it? |

posted October 3, 2003 9:08 AM Hello Tony, we use non-secure mode. It does not matter if we use the client PowerTCP ftp control or another ftp-software. |

posted October 3, 2003 9:26 AM The error you are getting indicates that the client connected then immediately disconnected before we could send the greeting. I don't know why that would happen though. Do the people with the Fuego firewall get any error messages on their end? |

posted October 3, 2003 9:42 AM when they connected through internet explorer, they didnt get any error message. They just had an hourglass. after a while a timout message. I am not sure if any error message appeared on other ftp-client software. why would the client disconnect before receiving the greeting message using the PowerTCP ftp server, but not with other public ftp servers? |

posted October 3, 2003 10:08 AM I'm not sure. Unfortunately only the person at the client end cam know why the client is closing. Try searching google groups for "Fuego Firewall Problem" and see if anyone else is reporting trouble. |
