posted June 29, 2003 4:21 PM Ok. I'm confused. I am testing the latest version of the Telnet control inside a VB6 app with service pack 5 running on WinXP Home Edition. I can log into the remote TELNET server and correctly display the command prompt inside a multi-line text box that I receive back from the server connection. I have a timeout value of zero (0) in the control properties, but I still get a timeout error 10060 ptTimeout. I know I am not calling any blocking methods because I am not doing anything. After about 30 seconds (the default timeout, it seems) it generates this error and drops the connection. When I log into the server using the TELNET command from WinXP's command prompt, I can log it, get the command prompt from the Telnet Server unit, and sit idle forever. I even sent commands to the unit via WinXP after sitting idle for about 4 minutes, and I wasn't disconnected from the server - only through your control does the connection drop. What's up? I thought that a timeout value of zero (0) didn't create timeout errors? Is this a WinSock problem in WinXP? Thanks. |

posted July 1, 2003 9:28 AM Hi, What method call is timing out? Are you able to reproduce this problem with the non-blocking Telnet Client sample? Or how can this problem be easily reproduced? Thanks, -ken |
