posted June 6, 2003 12:23 AM Hello. I am running a c# client program using PowerTCP SSL against a C++ server application using another SSL implementation. I have been using Dart for months, with no problems, until now. We are migrating our server apps to 2003Server. Luckily, the client is not migrating, but I am running into an issue when I run some client tools (again, C#, Dart SSL) on the 2003 Server racks. When the Dart SSL client runs under 2003Server, it cannot connect. Other, non-dart SSL apps can connect to the server, but the C# cannot. I have not traced yet, but the Server is saying that the SSL authentication has failed. I know this is not a lot of information, and I plan on diving into this after my deadline (since I don't really run on 2003, this is not a killer issue). Before I do that, though, I want to make do a sanity check with y'all. Do you expect your stuff to work under 2003? If not, will there be a patch? If so, any pointers, hints, clues, or smacks on the head that would point me in the correct direction? Thanks, Will McBurnett Multimedia Games |

posted June 9, 2003 11:11 AM Hi Will, I just tried our SSL VB.Net samples on a 2003 Server machine, and they worked ok (after the automatic upgrade to VS.Net 2003). Can you tell me if you experience similar problems with our samples? If not, I will try a C# test. Thanks, -ken |

posted June 23, 2003 4:00 PM Sorry for my late reply...milestone finally done. Today, I built CharGenServer and TCPClient. I did a sanity check on 2000->2000, and it worked. I then ran the server on my 2000 box, and the client on the 2003 box. I made sure that everyone had the correct certificates. The client would not connect in SSL, and there is a dialog "object closed down in the middle of SSL handshake". Going non-ssl worked. When I tried the reverse (2003 server and 2000 client), it gave the same error. That is all I have for now. -Will |

posted June 24, 2003 12:13 PM Hi Will, I'm sorry, you are right - the shipping product gives the error you mention on 2003 Server machines. However, it works fine with our internal version, so it should also work with the next update to the Tool. There is no ETA for the next release, but it will probably be at least a few weeks. Thanks for your help, -ken |
