I am having a problem with the web control on a Windows NT system and discovered that the dartweb.dll file will not register using regsrv32.exe. Each time I attempt to register it, it fails. I have re-booted the system several times and it still does not work. Note: the Dartsock.dll registers without any problems -- it's just the Dartweb.dll file that does not work. Both files are installed to the Windows system folder during my product's installation and should self-register, but even when I try to register the file manually it does not work.

I have double-checked that I have NT SP3 installed on the system, and that the system file versions match the requirements specified in the "Help" documentation under distribution for Windows NT.

My dll versions are:

Dartweb.dll -- version 1.8.0.4
Dartsock.dll -- version 2.8.0.4

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Amy Harvey

Well, I didn't receive any replies on this forum yet, but I believe I tracked the problem down to an older version of Wininet.dll. I could not find documentation in Dart's help files on any requirements for this file, but I did find some notes from a previous project which stated that an OLDER version of the Dart web control required a WININET.DLL version 4.71.1712.5 or higher. I was not able to update this file on the NT system in question (kept getting registration errors) -- but I DID install Internet Explorer 4 on the machine, which updated the WININET.DLL file version to 4.72.3612.1700, and that corrected the problem. (Previously, IE version 2.0 was installed on the machine because it was a "clean install" of NT for testing purposes.)

So, my solution is to modify my project's minimum requirements to say that IE4 or higher must be installed on the system. Just thought I would post an update to this forum, just in case anyone is interested or searches this forum someday looking for answers to the same problem.

Hi,
Please fill out and submit our support request form:
http://www.dart.com/support/supportform.asp
Please take the Dartnostics from the problem machine.

Also, if you actually install the Tool on this machine, does the dll register?

Thanks,

I'm installing dartweb.dll on windows nt as part of my application. When you run the application you get the message 'dartweb.dll or one of its dependencies not correctly registered' It is NT4 with IE6. Any ideas? I don't yet know the SP.

Hi,
If the Dartnostics utility is run on this machine, are both DartWeb.dll and DartSock.dll present in the "DLL Versions" section?
If not, are you able to register these dlls manually?
Thanks,

Hi folks,

I have the same problem. Actualy, on the new Win NT 4.0 machine with SP6. How can I solve the dependency problem with wininet.dll? Because, I can't register dart component (obviously) without wininet.dll (IE component?). Our customers worldwide uses Netscape Navigator and not IE (from security reason) and IE can not be installed!

Any solution? It is very very urgent! :-/
Any help, solution and/or suggestion is highly appreciated!

Best regards,
Bela Bartus

If you don't have IE, you can't use the Web Tool. We provided the Web Enterprise tool for people in your situation.

Hello,

I want to use the Web Enterprise Tool instead of standard Web Tool, because I need the same functionalities on systems without IE. Before I purchase, I have one question: this two tools are 100% compatible, i.e. do I need additional coding or I can use the existing source code without any changes?
Thanks,

Hi,
The interfaces are different.
The WebAsp control should be as easy to use, but you will not be able to use your existing code specifically for using the Http control.
