posted August 16, 2002 3:22 PM I have made a development kit to access our hardware in VB6. It downloads web pages using WebTool. When this kit is used on another machine it complains about WebTool trial has expired. What am I doing wrong? I have placed the WebTool control on an ActiveX control. I call my control HenchWebData. Then HenchWebData is placed on a form when someone is using the Development Kit to display some of the data from the web page. |

posted August 16, 2002 3:27 PM This is a violation of our licensing agreement. You can't make an ActiveX control that uses our tool, because you may be able to create a wrapper that just wraps the same functionality as our tool and sell it as yours. Please give us a call so we can explain the licensing agreement to you, and answer any questions you may have. |

posted August 16, 2002 3:38 PM Hi, To clarify Jon's response, you can make a control to be used in an application. What you cannot do is create a control that will be used in a development environment (unless you have purchased a license for each machine in which the control will be used in this way). -ken |

posted August 16, 2002 4:00 PM Thanks Ken. That is what I thought, I didn't get that from the Lawyerese in the license. I'll make sure the other two developers that use my kit purchase the WebTool. |
