posted July 19, 2002 6:48 PM I updated to the latest (update.exe), and since then, all get and post operations are very very very slow. I am running Windows 2000 Server, and from a fresh reboot, I run the demo fetch example that came with the web control (Delphi) and it times out. Running IE5, the pages come back perfect as ever. I tried another workstation here with the compiled EXE, and it's working fine (one that has not been upgraded). Please advise. -Randy |

posted July 23, 2002 12:00 PM I'm running Windows 2000 Pro with the most recent upgrade. I'm not having any trouble with the Delphi samples. |

posted July 23, 2002 1:21 PM I uninstalled web server, re-installed an older version, re-registered the product and everything is running perfect again. I'm not going to apply the update unless there's a compelling reason to do so. I had originally applied the update to fix a bug that was in the version of Web Server I had. -Randy |

posted July 23, 2002 4:57 PM Sorry, there was a miscommunication. I didn't realize that the problems you were having was with the Web Server tool. I've since ran the Web Server VB .NET sample and the Delphi Page Fetch sampel against the server. They seemed to work fine. I have the latest update installed. |

posted July 23, 2002 5:06 PM My mistake... I was having the problem with the Web tool. The HTTP engine... I applied the update to fix problems I was having with the Web Server tool (two separate projects), and that update appeared to have broken the Web tool. I unistalled the Web tool, reinstalled, re-registered, and did not reapply the update. The Web tool is working great now. Sorry for the confusion. -Randy |

posted July 23, 2002 5:09 PM At any rate, with all the updates installed on our end the Web Tool seems to work fine with the Web Server Tool, at least trying it with our samples. I ran the Web server sample, and the page fetch sample and had them talk to each other, which seemed to work fine. Were you having trouble with that as well? |

posted July 23, 2002 5:25 PM Yes. The original version of Web Server was having problems. I was instructed by someone at Dart in support to update. I applied the update, and my problems with Web Server were corrected. I finished up the prototype for the project that needed Web Server, and I got back into my other project which uses the Web tool. I spend the better part of a day trying to figure out why www.yahoo.com and a few other common sites would either time out or come back after excessive delays. We're on a T1 and Internet Explorer would load the pages in a second or two, but the Web tool was having a very difficult time of it. I abondoned my program and turned to the demos provided with the tool, and I found they behaved in the exact same manner which lead me to the conclusion that the Web tool was having issues and not my implementation. After the reinstall it's working great again (your programs and mine). I may try to get brave and reapply the update and see if there's a causual relationship. One question: how many times am I allowed to re-register the Web tool if I have to un-install and re-install again. This is all on the same machine and IP, but I noticed that the registration tool still asks me if I want to "transfer" the license. -Randy |

posted July 23, 2002 5:30 PM You don't need to keep registering. Just keep running the Setup, then skip the registration at the end. If you want to "downgrade", just delete all the Dart DLL's prior to running setup. |
