posted July 16, 2002 11:26 PM I've been able to deploy our product for a while now successfully, and then all of the sudden it stopped working. The web tool is licensed, and works fine on the development pc, but i get this error on other pcs: "Service cannot be started. System.TypeInitializationException: The type initializer for "Service.NET.ServiceMain" threw an exception. ---> System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040112): Class is not licensed for use" I saw in another post that the web tool needs to be on a form, but I can't see how a .NET service can have graphical elements (it specifically says that it is not supported). I'm very desperate... |

posted July 17, 2002 4:56 PM Hi, If you copy your license into the registry of the target machine (as described on the Distribution page of the Help File (under "Distribution Under IIS"), does that fix the problem? Thanks, -ken |

posted July 17, 2002 10:54 PM Very cool. That worked like a charm. Is this how I will have to distribute our program... changing those keys in the clients registry? (We aren't using IIS) Also, is it ok to compile the .NET program in debug form (.exe and .pdb) and test on other computers? |

posted July 18, 2002 7:00 PM Hi, Yes, it is a workaround for a licensing shortcoming in .NET. Yes, it is ok to test your app on other machines. -ken |
