We are using W2K terminal server with Citrix Metaframe 1.8.

Only Power Users and memebers of the Administrators group are able to send mail within this Powerbuilder application that was built and incorporates the PowerTCP Mail utility.

Why aren't Domain Users not able to use this application? Without making all users part of the Power Users group is there a fix for this? What security setting on W2K needs to be changed?

any reply is appreciated
Thanks

Whatever the .AttachmentDirectory property is set to in the mail control that directory has to be able to be written to by anyone using the control.

Thank you for responding.

In our situation this directory is: ~\documents and settings\username\local settings\temp

I have verifyed the permissions for each user's temp folder and they have full rights to it, include write access...

However this issue persists.

This problem will require one of our support personnel talking you through the fix. We don't offer this level of support through the forum, however. To inquire about other levels of support available for purchase contact support@dart.com.

I have exactly the same issue. What is the solution? It would be very nice if something about the fix or workaround was posted in the forum.

No solution was found. The user did not contact us again. Since we don't have Citrix Metaframe, we don't know what the exact cause is, so we would have to spend a lot of time on the phone going over different scenarios.

Thanks for the ultra speedy response!

I get this error on the security log.

Object Open:
  Object Server: Security

I have to surmise that it is related to the failure because it always pops up when a user tries to send e-mail. When I look the GUID up in the registry, it points to the network adaptor.

The app is written in VB6 SP5. It's also Terminal Services.

It looks like the process does not have permission to attachment directory or the temp directory.

I saw posts that suggested that. I have double chceked and I don't think that is the issue.

Have you tried other directories to see if it makes a difference?

I just thought I should verify that the temp directory was the directory that the TEMP environment variable points to. Yes?

Yes. That's correct. We would need access to that and the directory that you specified for the AttachmentDirectory property.

So there are two directories. TEMP and AttachmentDirectory.

Our application is very simplistic. It creates an SMTP object, Does SMTP.QuickSend, and throws away the SMTP object.

I see in the documentation where some of the objects can set AttachmentDirectory but not the SMTP object. We simply include a RTF file as a single attachment to the message. What directory would AttachmentDirectory point to?

You said you had the exact same problem so I assumed you were using POP. There is no attachment directory for SMTP.
