posted May 31, 2002 3:43 PM OK this is not a support question, but I do need help. I am trying to login to an anonymous FTP, when I try it always says Password required for "Anonymous" login. I've tried sending an email address as a password, I've tried just a word "powertcp". I always get password required, login failed. Thanks |

posted June 3, 2002 3:36 PM I contacted the Administrators of the ftp site and they said that they did not require anything other than an email address (well anything with the @ symbol in it would be accepted). I was looking for some examples on your site and came across the PowerTCP FTP Client (written by Tony Priest). I installed it and ran it (the EXE version) and I get the same login error. When I go in Help>About>Details it indicates Winsock version 1.1 I checked the version of Winsock.dll on my workstation and it's 3.10 Among other things where is this 1.1 version coming from? posted June 3, 2002 4:24 PM Hi, The Winsock.dll version is not equivalent to the version of Winsock installed. Do not worry about this; it is not the source of the problem. Are you able to connect to the server using command line Ftp? Other Ftp clients? What does the Trace log look like? Can I get access to this server? Thanks, -ken |

posted June 3, 2002 4:57 PM I am able to connect using other FTP Clients and the command line FTP. Here's what's in the trace: 220 ormsftpa FTP server (AUTHORIZED FTS ACCESS ONLY) ready. USER Anonymous 331 Password required for Anonymous. PASS archambault.alexandre@hydro.qc.ca 530 Login incorrect. I've tried a valid shorter email address and a fake email address with the same results Here's the ftp site's address: aftp.theimo.com (and yes the site's address starts with an a).
