We bought the license and I followed the directions to put the powerTCP libraries on the users computers. How do I get their workstations to stop asking for the license? I'm assuming it has something to to with using regedit...do I jsut put the key into the license field? Thanks

I assume that you mean DLL's?

That being the case, this has to be one of the
most commonly asked questions. If you get a trial
message on the target computer, it means that the
application was compiled with a trial serial number.

Possible causes:

1) You did not add the license number after you purchased it.
2) You are using an environment that does not add a runtime license.
3) You did not follow the instructions in the environment specific readme.

Solutions:

1) Add the license number using DartRegister
2) Tell me what environment you are using
3) Find the Readme for the specific environment and follow the steps for removing and re-adding the control.

Are you building an exe?
How are you instantiating the control?
Are you compiling your app on the development machine?
Generally, if you are using VB to create a compiled exe in which the control is inserted on a form, you will just need to re-compile your exe on the machine with the license (development machine). You do not have to do anything else (really!). You can test this by starting a new project, placing a control on the form, compiling, and distributing.
If, however, your situation deviates from this general example, please tell me how it does so.
Thanks,

OK Just to add to this. I am using VB6 with latest service packs, everything followed for the registration during the install on the development machine. I'm not compiling an EXE I am building a Custom COM for our Web Site. Creating my own DLL which uses the PowerTCP Tools.

After Compiling the DLL and Hosting it under an MTS package on the Web Server the COM fails to work because of the PowerTCP Tools are showing not registered.
How to fix this?
Thanks,
-Brad

Hi Brad,
I have never used MTS, but if you are deploying a dll (that references our controls) from a webpage, you will need to create an LPK file for your dll as described in the following article:
http://support.dart.com/KBDetail.dwp1
This procedure works if the procedure is done correctly.
