posted May 7, 2002 6:15 PM Hi all, I've been working with the ftp control in an asp application for quite some time. Most of the time I've used it the connection I've been sending data over has been slow (dialup 33.6 on up to DSL 608kbps) and haven't noticed performance problems. However, I recently decided to send a file using the ftp control over my 100Mbps LAN and noticed that the FTP transfer using the ftp control is about 100 times slower than when I use command line ftp to the exact same server. I built a vb test app to make sure it wasn't something in the vb code and got the same results. A 100mb file is taking over 10 minutes to transfer using the ftp control when it transfers in about 11 seconds using the command line ftp interface. Does anyone have any ideas or can anyone verify that what I am seeing is/is not abnormal? The code I am using is pretty simple and I've tweaked around with the properties of the ftp control to try to speed things up over my lan connection to no avail. basically all I'm doing is an ftp1.put FTP_PATH, LOCAL_PATH. Your help is much appreciated! Sean Cullinan Software Engineer Associated Press |
