I raised an issue a week or two ago concerning re-registering my copy of FTP after changing my development environment from Win9x to Win NT. Following the advice received it appeared that registration occurred.
However, I am still getting occasional messages during compilation of my app saying that the trial copy only has xx days remaining. Do I have a problem or can I just ignore the messages?

Hi,
You cannot ignore the error, it means the license was not compiled into your app.
What development environment are you in?

I am now using Windows NT 4.0. Initially I had Service Pack 5 and moved to SP6 recently.
NOTE: The registration tool lists FTP Tool as being registered.
Any help gratefully received.

He meant what development environment are you using? It sounds like you inserted the control during the trial period and did not reinsert it after you registered.

Either that or you are using the control in a way that does not support normal licensing.

How exactly is the FTP object being used and in what development environment?

Thanks,

I am using VB 6 (SP5).
I have been successfully compiling this app and distributing it from a Win95 platform for 12 months or so and recently changed to the NT environment for development. Thats when the problems started. Is it just a matter of revisiting the relevant form to remove and reinsert the control?

If you inserted the control in VB (rather than using create object) there should be no problem. If you get a trial message, it means that the app was not compiled on a machine that has a license. Operating system has nothing to do with it.

At this point, we'll need to take this issue up outside of the forum. Please send a screenshot of the trial message(s) and a Dartnostics reports from the machine that the program was compiled on to support@dart.com

I have just re-registered the tool for the third time using the new registration tool retrieved from the web two weeks ago. It all appeared to go well. Editing the registration details indicates that the product is registered. Compiling my app immediately after the registration brought up the expiry message again - down to 11 days now.

My hard disk has three partitions - two NTFS partitions and a hidden FAT partition that is used by the company SOE to store a Ghost image of the main partition. Is this structure causing a problem?

PLR

Please try this:

1) Delete the trial key in your registry. It's in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Dart\PowerTCP\License\FTP Component
2) Start VB and create a new project
3) Insert an FTP control
4) If you don't get a trial message then everything is working fine so far.
5) Compile the app and run it
6) If you don't get a trial message then everything is working fine so far.

If you are still having problems please call us directly at 315-790-5456 and ask for me. I will try to talk you through this.

Thanks,

Tony

I purchased the FTP tool last week (4/23) after using a trial license. I too am still getting the license warning when I run my application. I've rebuilt my MS VC++ application and have also reinserted the FTP control. I'm using MS Visual Studio on windows NT SP6. Should I also try removing the registry entry as suggested in the previous posting? Thanks, Ken Mills

Hi Ken,
When you add your serial number to a sample's code (as described in the readme), compile and distribute, do you see the trial?
Thanks,

Yes, it did occur after redistributing the .exe file to the test computer. I then added the statement #define LICENSE "Number:UnlockCode:CompanyName" to
the source code and also deleted and reinserted the control onto my screen dialog as per the readme.txt instructions located in the VC6 samples folder. I did not get the dart trial license warning on my DEV or TEST boxes. I think I'm OK now. Thanks Ken.
