posted April 16, 2002 6:23 PM Occasionally users would get a "Mail Error: -1 Component died" error when sending e-mail with attachments. I was able to determine that this happens when an attached file is in use by another application. I was able to get around this issue by checking the file status before calling the SMTP control's Message object's AddAttachment method. My question is shouldn't the AddAttachment method be doing a file status check before permitting the file to be attached and set an appropriate error code rather than bombing when the send method is executed? |

posted April 17, 2002 8:50 AM Hi, When I try sending an email with an open (for writing) file with the Smtp Client sample, I get an error: Unable to open file. Is it different for you? Are you using the latest dlls? http://www.dart.com/downloads/update.exe Thanks, -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |

posted April 17, 2002 5:12 PM I was using the old version 2.1 DLLs. The new DLLs did capture the problem properly and displayed the "Unable to open file" message. Thanks. |
