posted November 15, 2001 6:03 AM Hi we are starting to get problems with customers that are using our software that uses your PowerTCP Client. They are now starting to use DHCP servers for the allocation of IP addresses. Currently the Dart license is assigned to an IP address. When the DHCP server refreshes the IP addresses they are getting problems as the licensed PC now has a different IP address. Is there any way this can be solved without the customer switching back to static IP addresses. Thanks |

posted November 15, 2001 11:18 AM Hi, I don't think this is possible. The license is associated with a machine, not an IP address, and the location of licenses and their IP addresses isn't cached anywhere. I would make sure the same license is not actually installed on two different machines. -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |

posted December 17, 2001 11:23 AM I've spoken to the customer in question and they're saying that for example if they have 4 PCs, each with unique dart licenses and 2 are switched on and 2 are switched off when the dhcp server refreshes the ip addresses the 2 PCs that were switched on work OK, however the 2 PCs that were switched off when the dhcp server refreshed they get the duplicate license error. I've downloaded the Update.exe for the latest drivers, but it won't install. It's saying that a previous instance of PowerTCP is required.. It is installed already! |

posted December 17, 2001 11:52 AM Hi, The update is for our line of Tools, not the Professional Edition, which is why you see that error. It sounds like, when those machines are turned on, they have the old IP addresses of the machines that remained on. The "on" machines still recognize these old IP addresses as having licenses. If the apps on these "on" machines are stopped and re-started, I suspect you will no longer get the error on the "off" machines. You also have the option of getting an OEM license, which would eliminate the need for these end-user licenses. -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |
