posted November 8, 2001 4:25 PM We are having a problem with windows XP dialup connections and a http GET. We have a test app that simply does a GET on a url in a loop. On windows XP dialup connections this get fails about 40% of the time. I realize it sounds like a dialup issue but we have reproduced it on over 20 machines with 6 different ISPs, different phone lines, different urls, etc. It only occurrs on Windows XP, all other OS's have been tested (95a, 95b, 98, ME, NT 4, and 2000) and have a perfect sucecss rate. We are initiating the dialup connection manually. Any help would be appreciated. |

posted November 12, 2001 10:05 AM Hi, I have been able to confirm a problem where, after a request to a URL results in a 9060 timeout error, many subsequent requests show a multitude of different errors. But this is not limited to XP. I have issued a bug report on this problem to the development staff. Is this what you are seeing? Or what errors do you see? Thanks, -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |

posted November 12, 2001 10:37 AM We have been able to definately isolate a specific XP problem with dialup connections. However, we have subsequently coded an http get in VB using the wininet API. We have reporiducded the same problem with them. We aren't getting any errors. We are downloading a file and the connection just gets closed as if the file download was complete. We know it fails because the filesize is known. It definately appears to be a problem with wininet api's, although we cannot reproduce it with an IE browser. |
