posted October 22, 2001 4:22 PM Does Dart have an HTTPS component that is not dependent upon WinInet? We currently using the Dart Web Tool, but we find that it causes frequent access violations on some machines, so we moving away from the component. We're really not sure whether the AV's are caused by the Dart component or WinInet (we have seen a few issues where WinInet was the real culprit), so we are willing to consider a dart offering if one is available. |

posted October 22, 2001 5:17 PM Sounds interesting. Tell me something: It looks as though the non-WinInet control in the set is targeted as a server-side control. We really need a control that operates on the client-side. Is there any reason that the non-WinInet control cannot be used as a client? Does it still support SSL and cookies? |

posted October 22, 2001 5:34 PM Hi, The WebAsp control is a client-side control. The server-side optimization means it can be safely used in server-side ASP scripts. It does support SSL, and unlike the Http control, client authentication is supported. Cookies are also supported, but unlike the Http control, the handling of cookies is up to you (they are not automatically stored by the control, and the store is not automatically searched prior to a request being made). -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |

posted October 22, 2001 5:46 PM A few more questions (I'll try to hit on everything this time <g>) Is there any other platform dependency? IE, can I use WEBASP in SSL mode, and without WinInet on a win 9x machine? ME? NT4? 2000? |

posted October 23, 2001 12:28 PM Hi, See the Distribution page in our Help File for OS file version requirements. Also, Internet Explorer is required. For Https on Win 9x machines, see the Windows 95/98 Security Compatibility page in the Help File. -ken K M Drake Dart Tech Support |
