I run a system using the Web Tool that takes web pages and reads them over the phone. One of my customers did a Lycos search with a rather lengthy search string, and when he submitted the search results, the web tool tried to retrieve the following URL:

http://search.lycos.com/main/default.asp?lpv=1&loc=searchhp&query=low%20cost%20longdistance%20service%20that%20does%20not%20require%20you%20to%20switch%20phone%20companies/default.asp?query=low+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies&loc=meta_index/default.asp?query=low+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Fquery%3Dlow+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies&loc=meta_index/default.asp?query=low+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Fquery%3Dlow+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies&loc=meta_index/default.asp?query=low+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Fquery%3Dlow+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies&loc=meta_index/default.asp?query=low+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+requi
re+you+to+switch+phone+companies%2Fdefault%2Easp%3Fquery%3Dlow+cost+longdistance+service+that+does+not+require+you+to+switch+phone+companies&loc=meta_index

This caused the web tool to come back with an error saying that the URL method failed. Is there a limit on the allowed length of a URL?

Hi,
No, I just successfully retrieved the page with the PageFetch sample application.
Make sure you are using the latest dlls:
http://www.dart.com/downloads/update.exe
and it should work ok.
