Topic: Why HTTP Control Cause Application Error
N/A posted March 28, 2001 11:27 PM

Hi

I have a little program in VB that has a form and the form contains a Dart http control.

My program starts from Sub Main and when I want to unload the form from Sub Main I receive an application error that make my program to be closed.

This error occurs only if previously I called one of http control methods (such as Post or Get)

Could you please tell me why this oocurs and how can I correct It?

Thanks

I have encountered the same problem with the dart HTTP control, after Posting data using the component, the application using the control cannot close. The problem seems to occur when the component reference is set to nothing.
Situation:
ActiveX DLL written in VB6.0 (sp3)
Application run on a Windows NT Machine.
The problem does not occur on windows2000 (I didn't test any other situations).
HTTP data Posted to SSL site.

I can't send the source, but i'll try to make some test code to reproduce the problem.

I have some more information on the specific details of when this problem occurs.
The application will only hang when a connection has been made to certain Web servers via a HTTPS connection. Specifically, the server i've been able to reproduce this problem with was running IIS4.0 on Windows NT4.0 Server with SP6 installed. Testing on a number of other servers in the internet (including https://www.dart.com/ and https://www.microsoft.com) did not cause any problems. I'm mailing my test findings and test code to dart support now.
