I'm installing Web Tool on a new server (we're moving a site). I don't have a direct link to the web on this machine and I cannot register the program at all despite getting a registration number/ Serial no. I can't even get the trial version working anymore on the old or new servers.
I've tried unistalling and reinstalling, running your update.exe program etc.
I'm running NT with SP6. Is there anything else I can try to get Web Tool successfully installed. Do I need to get my serial number reset?

Please call our sales department (315-790-5456) and tell them you need to do a manual registration.

I've been walked through the manual registration by Mike (Bova). I get a registration number OK, but when I've filled in the Company/ Serial No/ Registration boxes, the Registered tools box is empty and clicking the update button does not have any effect. The tool isn't registered and I can't use 'createobject' in my code successfully.

If calling in and getting walked through didn't help, there isn't much I can do here. There has to be something you weren't telling Mike. Maybe you gave him the wrong unlock code? Maybe you had some extra characters in license entry? Did you try a different name for the company? Maybe it has something to do with that?

Try calling in again and asking for Tony. I'll try to walk you through it.

I apologize for all the trouble.

Thanks,

Tony, thanks for your help.
I had typed in the Company name incorrectly - 'Aon' instead of 'Aon Ltd'. Now the component is properly registered, however the 'createobject' command is still failing in my code.
Error messages are:

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'
Server.CreateObject Failed
/aonlink/graydon_compname.asp, line 22
Invalid class string
I have mailed a log file (created by dartnostics) to your support@dart.com e-mail

I don't see how that could be. We don't care what you use for the company name. You're saying that you did everything the same except for the word "Ltd"? Is it possible that yesterday you were logged in as someone with non-Admin rights, but today you are not?

In regards to the other error, what is on line 22 of /aonlink/graydon_compname.asp?

Thanks,

Tony

In reponse to your first point, I had the Serial no/ registration all typed in and changed the company name and the web tools box suddenly had an entry in. I was suprised that the company name had any bearing, I wasn't being as careful typing the Company name.
Secondly, the line of code is:
set graydon_rep = Server.CreateObject_
("atl.graydon2")
Thirdly, I don't know if this has any bearing, but when I run the update.exe I get an error with kernel32.dll.
"The procedure entry point ReinitializeCriticalSection could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

I don't know what "atl.graydon2" is, so I can't tell you why it fails the createobject. All of our stuff starts with "Dart."

Also, it sounds to me like the update.exe is not complete, try deleting your cached copy and download it again.
